Nasal Flesh Reduction (Conchoplasty)
What is Nose Flesh?
There are three nasal conchas in the upper, middle and lower parts of the inner wall of the nose. Their function is to warm, humidify, filter and transmit the air drawn into the lungs. Turbinates, consisting of soft tissue and bone, swell when the weather is cold, filling the veins with blood and making the air taken from the nose ready for breathing.
Why Does Nasal Concha (Concha) Grow?
There are six nasal meatus in total, three in each of the right and left nasal cavities. The organ that works and grows the most is called the inferior turbinate, located at the entrance of the nose. They grow and shrink depending on whether the air inhaled is hot, cold or dirty. Allergies (dust, pollen, mould, fungus, etc.), air pollution, smoking, sinusitis, nasal inflammations, nasal bone curvature cause swelling of the nasal concha.
What are the symptoms of nasal flesh enlargement?
The most common symptom of nasal enlargement is nasal congestion. Since the air taken from the nose is not enough, the mouth is opened involuntarily and breathing is taken through the mouth. For this reason, the ambient air dries the mouth and upper respiratory tract. Nasal congestion becomes evident during sleep. Since nasal breathing is not sufficient, the lungs cannot get enough air, so the body cannot provide enough oxygen. As a result, the body cannot rest sufficiently because the tissues and organs cannot receive enough oxygen. You wake up tired in the morning. Since mouth breathing is done throughout the night, dry mouth and taste disturbance occur in the morning.
What is Rhinoplasty Surgery? How To?
Nasal flesh surgery is usually performed under local and general anesthesia. One of the methods is cold surgery (removing the flesh by cutting), that is, completely cutting and removing the nasal flesh. Since humidification and filtering of the inhaled air will be insufficient after this method, complete removal is not done unless necessary.
If there is no problem with the nasal bone, the nasal concha is reduced. The latest technological product developed for this purpose is laser nasal surgery. In the radiofrequency laser method, heat is given via radio waves through an electrode placed inside the growing meat. Tissue heated to approximately 70-80 degrees shrinks. Reduction can be achieved with the laser method. Sufficient reduction can be achieved by sending a laser beam into the nasal flesh.
What are the points to be taken into consideration after rhinoplasty surgery?
Healing is completed after 4-8 weeks after surgery. Vigorous blowing of the nose during this period may cause bleeding. Since there is dryness and crusting in the nose, moisturizing sprays and sea water sprays help healing.
